What will I be doing on UNIQ 2022?
UNIQ offers a range of activities that will support your preparation for university applications. We also provide extra support on admissions tests and interview preparation for students who apply to Oxford.
APPROACH TO OXFORD - APRIL TO JUNE
UNIQ 2022 launches during the Easter Holidays. This will be your first chance to meet current Oxford students as well as other UNIQ participants. You will definitely meet new friends and you may even meet the people you will be studying alongside in Oxford next year.
Let’s Oxplore sessions are all about exploring a new subject, having some fun and learning to think like an Oxford student. Let’s Oxplore will help you build a portfolio of super curricular activities that you can use in future university applications. Support is on hand from Oxford undergraduates to guide you through the module, and you can also chat to other UNIQ students about your discoveries. These sessions are based on a Big Question created by UNIQ 2021 students and has been specially designed for UNIQ 2022.
Oxford Is… activities are where you will find out more about what life as an Oxford student is like. You will discover how Oxford is a place where you can be you, where you can try out something new or excel at your current talents, and where you can prepare for your future.
ACADEMICS AT OXFORD - JULY
In the summer holidays, you will take part in an academic course in a subject of your choice to see what it is like to study at Oxford. We will provide additional support and guidance for UNIQ participants before these courses start, so you can feel confident that you will be ready to take part in them. Our student ambassadors will also always be on hand to advise and support you.
Most UNIQ students will attend a four-day residential in Oxford, which will have an intensive academic focus. The UNIQ residential also gives students the chance to see what living in a college will be like and there are places for 1,350 students.
Some UNIQ courses are more oversubscribed than university courses, so we will also offer 250 places on online academic combined courses to allow a greater number of students to participate in UNIQ. Combined courses are also a great choice if you are not 100% sure which university course is right for you. All students allocated to online courses are also placed on the reserve list for UNIQ residential courses.
APPLICATIONS TO OXFORD - AUGUST TO DECEMBER
We encourage all UNIQ students to apply to Oxford, and if you decide to do so, we can help you to make the best application possible. Applications to Oxford need to be submitted by mid October. As part of our support, you will have a chance to pick the brains of our student ambassadors, as well as hear from academics about our admissions tests and interviews.
The timing of these sessions is linked to the Oxford application timeline to make sure you get the support you need, when you need it. Support on writing personal statements and preparing for admissions tests will be available from August to mid October whilst support on preparing for Oxford interviews will continue through November and early December.
We hope that your participation in this programme will help you gain an offer to study at the University of Oxford, and if you do, we will be here to support you through the transition to University life. Maybe one day you can help us to run UNIQ for other students!
