Selection Criteria

Applications for UNIQ 2017 are now closed. Decisions were made available on the 7 March

Since the UNIQ summer schools are an access programme, preference is given to applicants from low socio-economic backgrounds and/or from areas with low progression to higher education. Therefore, an unsuccessful application to the UNIQ summer schools does not reflect an applicant’s likelihood of being successful in an application for undergraduate study at the University of Oxford.

Applications are only open to students currently in their first year of A-Levels (or equivalent) at UK* state schools/colleges/sixth forms/academies. We do not accept applications from students at private schools (including students holding scholarship places).

The following areas are taken into consideration when assessing applicants (We use current and historical data to judge an application):

We also consider applications from looked after children and students that have fully participated in Target Oxbridge or IntoUniversity schemes.

UNIQ welcomes applications from disabled students and makes reasonable adjustments to facilitate their access to the summer school. Admission is based solely on the individual merits of each candidate.

You must be a UK resident settled in the UK at the time of applying to UNIQ with no restrictions on the period for which you may stay in the UK.
You must have been resident in the UK from 1 October 2015, and this residence should not have been wholly or mainly for the purpose of receiving full-time education during any part of it.

* The term UK is understood as England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. Students from British Overseas Territories and Crown Dependencies are not eligible to apply.

More information and the online application page for UNIQ 2018 will be available later in the year (likely December). In the meantime it is worth looking at the above selection criteria to see if you would be eligible to apply.

Note for Teachers: please take the opportunity to share information about UNIQ with your school and whilst we acknowledge that you may want to share this information with particular students, we ask that you distribute this information to all of your students as our applications are not only based upon A* grades.
