Classics: Rome

Dates of course: Sunday 10th July - Wednesday 13th July 2022, Sunday 17th July - Wednesday 20th July 2022 (students will only attend one or the other of these 4-day residential courses)

Classics: Rome is the study of the language, culture, history and thought of the ancient Roman civilisation. The Classics: Rome course gives students a chance to understand all these different elements and gain some experience of learning Latin. This course will provide you with a real feel for what a Classics degree is like, and is designed so that you won't need any prior experience of Classics or Classical languages to participate.

Classics is a very broad subject, and during the week you will attend lectures and seminars on a wide variety of topics, including ancient history, archaeology and literature. There will also be some discussion seminars on Latin poetry, and three introductory Latin classes.
